I am a self-taught, freelance artist living in Melbourne. My work has strong reflections of culture and traditions from India, a place where I was born and brought up. I am trained as a therapist and I have worked with people with developmental disabilities for over fifteen years in India. Art and expression had always been an integral part of my work and this has enriched me both as an individual and as an artist. I paint because I find my heart and soul in it. It gets me up in the morning looking forward to the possibilities that the day brings in. My work is inspired by individuality of all things past and present. All my figurative works have strong reflections of culture and traditions from India. When painting abstracts, I find the essence of reality in them. I love the unpredictability of flow art and the infinite possibilities it brings in. The fluidity and reactivity of paints offers a plethora of experimentation and experience on canvas. I like exploring different techniques and mediums. My figurative works are primarily done in oil paints whereas I use acrylics and other mediums for my abstract paintings. My present artworks are an attempt to explore and bring together the figurative style of painting and the abstract flow art. This feeling of taking control and letting go at the same time is what I love and keeps me going. I strongly believe art is a continuous journey and I get to learn something new every day. |
