ARTIST BIO

Wendy is an Australian artist, born and raised on the Mornington Peninsula.  Displaying natural creativity as a child, her youth was spent drawing and using a more tactile medium, sewing.  From the age of 7, she sewed her dolls clothes on an adult machine and continued on to create her own clothing for herself and her children.  This led to the art form of quilting, which she still enjoys today.

Wendy took art as an elective right through secondary school, but ceased painting when life and family came along.  More than a decade ago, she picked up her brushes again, attending art classes in the Dandenong hills, at Cheryl Petersen Galleries, and is currently studying at Peninsula Art Space, under the direction of Chrissy Sharp.

Wendy does not restrict herself to a single medium and her current work is mostly acrylic with elements of pastels, ink and mixed media.  She loves to experiment with different textures and colours and her work is influenced by the beauty of the Mornington Peninsula beaches and landscapes.  She favours more whimsical and abstract compositions.

Wendy has exhibited and sold at the Paynesville Art Show in East Gippsland, sold art at the Bayside art show held at the Sandringham Yacht club and has exhibitted at the Camberwell Art Show 2017.
